Position: Systems Administrator

Position Description: The purpose of this position is to administer and oversee network design, implementation, organization, and troubleshooting. Includes managing network servers; monitoring underlying communication protocols and supporting network hardware; reviewing and analyzing software and hardware needs; and recommending changes and upgrades where applicable to provide efficient, effective, and timely service to users in the company.

Classification: Full Time – Salary

$35,000-50,000 DOE

Essential Functions:

• Surveys performance needs and goals of all users.
• Interfaces with users, consultants, technical teams, and vendors for maximum guidance in determining the most appropriate type of hardware installation.
• Designs, specifies, and documents LAN configurations according to user needs, utilizing outside support resources as appropriate.
• Creates/deletes employee profiles (e.g., logins and passwords in network and software applications).
• Designs, implements, and maintains company’s intranet.
• Prepares charts and diagrams to explain network operation and to train end-users in proper use.
• Analyzes user needs and network traffic to ensure smooth operations of applications and network.
• Organizes and facilitates software training programs.
• Develops and monitors appropriate security procedures to safeguard system from physical harm and viruses, unauthorized users, and damage to data.
• Sets up new workstations and users on network and provides access to appropriate software.
• Sets up print queues, network printers, and menu options and changes.
• Maintains inventory of computer equipment.
• Tracks software the firm uses and installs all software updates.
• Performs minor repairs to equipment and maintains hardware in good working order.
• Maintains backup system of all computer functions; designs and establishes disaster recovery procedures to ensure retrieval on all data and system software.
• Oversees the database administration functions to ensure data integrity is maintained.
• Assists staff with computer/printer problems (hardware and software).
• Writes and maintains network documentation.
• Researches, evaluates, analyzes, and makes recommendations to management on the hardware and software needs of the firm.
• Relocates computer hardware as needed.
• Work as a member of the technology committee to forecast, then implement and monitor, the IT operating budget.
• Orders computer hardware.
• Assures all support agreements are current and licenses are obtained as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge of Citrix environment, VMware, Windows Server 2008, Exchange 2007, and accounting programs are a plus.

Educational Requirements:

A minimum of two years’ experience and a two year degree or working towards a two year degree or equivalent experience is required.

Working Conditions:

Normal office hours are 8:00a.m. to 5:00p.m. Monday through Friday.  Overtime will be required during peak times.  Reduced hours during summer months.
